Phan Thiet
Phan Thiet, Vietnam is located in the Binh Thuan province. 200kilometers from Saigon, it is on the southern most tip of Central Vietnam. Legend has it that Han Mac Tu, the disfigured poet spent his time in Phan Thiet waiting for the lady of his dreams, Mong Cam. With a population of around 100,000 people, it is the largest town in Binh Thuan province and one of the major Vietnam popular destinations.

The major industry in Phan Thiet is fishing. The proximity of the Ca Ty River and the ocean make it a perfect place for the development of fishing industry. From July to October is the peak fishing season of the region. During this season the boats in the sea form a spectacular sight. It is said that around 100 varieties of fishes are available in the waters around Phan Thiet, Vietnam. The total catches per year amount to around 70,000 tons. The availability of the huge amount of fish makes it a perfect place for the excellent production of fish sauce. This fish sauce is available all over Vietnam resulting in an annual production of nearly 17 million liters.

Phan Thiet is home to some of the most beautiful and the most visited of the Vietnam tourist attractions. To the east of Phan Thiet are some exquisite beaches, one of the greatest attractions in the region. They are totally different from one another. While some are lined with coconut trees, the others are next to vast sand dunes. There is the beautiful Bai Rang, 15 kilometer northeast of Phan Thiet, Vietnam. It is beautifully lined with coconut trees. This beach has the Da Ong Dia (boulders of the Earth God) and the Suoi Tien (Celestial Stream).

The most famous tourist attraction in Phan Thiet is the Mui Ne Sand Dunes. 12 miles east of Phan Thiet the sand dunes are nothing short of nature’s work of art. The elements of wind have given it a shape worth viewing.

Another attraction of Phan Thiet, Vietnam is its proximity to Cape Mui Ne. It is a 21km of long arc of fine sand with a perfect combination of the sun and blue pacific water giving rise to a spectacular view.

The town of Phan Thiet, Vietnam has an appeal of its own. The streets are lined with colonial villas. The Ho Chi Minh Museum and the Ong Pagoda are some of the major tourist attractions that you shouldn’t miss on your Vietnam tours.

Places of interest

Ta Cu Mount and Forest     
Ta Cu Mount is near 650m high, located by 01A national highway across Tan Lap commune, Ham Thuan Nam rural district. This is an attractive climbing destination as well as the picturesque scenery in Binh Thuan. Around the year, the climate is pure, cool and the average temperature ranges from 180 to 220C. Ta Cu has charming scenery with diverse shaped marble blocks and hundreds of year old trees. This place has Nui Pagoda, a historical architecture built in 1878 - 1880 on a height of 475m. The area of Nui pagodas includes 2 main pagodas, Linh Son Truong Tho and Long Don. The distinctive feature is the Statue of Buddha in Nirvada that is 49m high and considered the biggest Buddhist statue in Southeast Asia. Ta Cu Forest was recognized as a national natural reserve by the government in 1996. It is home to many rare plants such as barian kingwood, pterocarpus trees, medicinal plants, orchids, apricots, and bamboo. Tourists are advised to bring along a packed lunch, as it will take a whole day to visit the place.

Mui Ne fishing village
The name "Mui Ne" was created by local fishing people because this is the shelter in stormy season. "Mui" means cape or island and "Ne" means hiding. The combination of sunlight, sand and teeming blue water has created a landscape appealing and fabulous to tourists. In addition to the excursion, tourists also have chance to witness the daily activities of a pure Vietnamese fishing village. Together with the local fishing people to catch sea fish, rock crabs and to draw fishing nets, tourists not only find it relaxing but also integrate into the real fishing life. Whenever mentioning Phan Thiet, everyone often thinks about the sea and seafood. Seeing believes! Sand Dunes
Twelve kilometers east of Phan Thiet is one of the famous landscapes - Mui Ne dunes. The dunes in this area are formed by wind; therefore, they are scenery spectacular to tourists. Here, tourists will sink in the integrated beauty of clouds, dunes and the sea .Tourist can also take part in many interesting game such as sand boarding, dune climbing competitions... Climbing on smooth sand hills on bare feet to hear sand sounding to each of their steps, tourists will feel as if they were in their playful childhood, when diving crown from the top of the hills on a board in a soft way, tourists will feel like flying with the immense sky and ground. Over the years, Mui Ne dunes have become a well-known destination as well as a symbol and a wonderful image of Binh Thuan.

Ke Ga lighthouse
Four kilometers away from Phan Thiet and about 1-3 hours for a tour, Ke Ga lighthouse is one of the famous historical vestiges in Binh Thuan province. Built in 1897 by a French architect named Chnavat, the lighthouse is 64 m high and assessed as one of the most beautiful lighthouses in Southeast Asia. With its tower alone is 41m high, the lighthouse is situated on the height of 25 m compared to the sea level. It is octagonal and can light as far as 22 nautical miles. Ke Ga lighthouse looks beautiful and like a precious artwork thanks to its primary construction material granite. Currently, Ke Ga Island and the lighthouse are on their ways to become an attraction to tourists because they are both picturesque scenery and distinctive architectural vestige.

Trang Lake
Trang Lake is one of the famous landscapes in Binh Thuan. It belongs to Hong Lam hamlet, Hoa Thing commune, Bac Binh rural district, which is 65 km northeast of Phan Thiet City. Trang Lake is a pure water lake formed long ago and located amidst a boundless dunes area. Trang Lake is divided by a hill of sand into Ong Pool and Ba Pool. The lake surface is calm and terrific thanks to pink lotus blooming all year round. The ecology in Trang Lake is very plentiful with - many kinds of fresh water fish. At Trang Lake, tourists can contemplate the poetic beauty of a lotus pond located amidst a dune of gleaming sand and have chance to sail on the lake with boats of fishing men in the neighborhood or to -go fishing at their wish. Moreover, tourists can also go camping in the fern forest at the north bank of the lake.

Poshanu Towers
The Po Sha Nu group of ancient tower vestiges, or also called Phu Hai tower, belongs to Thanh Hai ward, Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan province. The Po Sha Nu group of ancient tower vestiges is the general tower and temple architecture of Cham people. It is the worship place for the fairy daughters of goddess Po Nagar. The group includes 03 towers and many other tower ruins. The three remaining towers scatter on 02 ground layers and direct toward the east. All the three towers are multi-storey square towers. They have aged since 8th century and have Champa ancient architectural style with some factors such as round pillars at fake doors, door edges..., which is similar to that of Khmer towers and temples. Annually in the 1st lunar month, festivals such as Rija Nuga, Poh Mbang Yang are held at the foot of the towers. People perform praying ceremonies for rainfall and good things.

Relic of Duc Thanh School
Duc Thanh School, cultural and historical relic, situated at Thanh Duc Hamlet, present-day Number 39, Trung Nhi Street, Phan Thiet City, was built in 1907 (the same year that the Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc School in Hanoi was built), by Nguyen Trong Loi and Nguyen Quy Anh, the two sons of poet Nguyen Thong.
In 1990, on his way to find a path for national salvation, teacher Nguyen Tat Thanh (later President Ho Chi Minh) stayed and taught at Duc Thanh School. In February 1911, Thanh left the school for Saigon, from where he went overseas to find a way to liberate the country. At present, the School has preserved many valuable objects that relate to the life of teacher Thanh, such as a writing table, an ink-slab, a wooden bed, etc.

Thuy Tu Temple
Van Thuy Tu (Thuy Tu Temple) is located on Ngu Ong (fisherman) Road in Duc Thang Precinct, Phan Thiet City. Thu Tu fisherman built it in 1762 to worship the Whale. Its architecture is in the shape of the Tam (third " ") letter with its front side facing East. At first, it was built near Van estuary close to the coast. There are nearly 100 whale skeletons and other species of fish of the same family are worshipped, more than half of which are 100-150 years old. In the framework of the temple, there is a large burial ground for dead whales, which sometimes get stranded on the shore. Van Thuy Tu is one of the ancient relics having many high by the Nguyen Kings.

Fairies' Stream and the Red Hill

Suoi Tien (Fairies' Stream) is a natural beauty spot with a magnificent mountain-water view, a primitive environment untouched by human beings. Standing near a small stream with clear clean water is an imposing mountain of white and red colours created by the sand and soil, and caves and cliffs, which are unique and strange-looking. This is an ideal place for picnics. The site is on the way to Mui Ne, about 15 km to the North-East Phan Thiet City.
Doi Hong (Red Hill), near Mui Ne sand dunes, is in Mui Ne Precinct, Phan Thiet City. It is a natural landscape consisting of several red-soil hills of strange different shapes due to long-time erosion.
 
The Lying Buddha
The Buddhist statue "Buddha joins into Nirvana", or "The lying Buddha", 49 meters long, was sculptured in 1962 on Ta Cu Mountain. It is in the cultural complex including Linh Son Truong Tho and Linh Son Long Doan Pagodas (built in the late 19th century) in Tan Lap village, South Ham Thuan District, about 30 km to the South-West of Phan Thiet City.
